Snipes and swamps
and black bayous.

Ghosts and goblins.
Ghouls and goo
Frightening BOOs!

Witches and warlocks.
Wolfmen and worse
Vats of brew.

Groans and moans.
Shrieks and creaks.
A shadow looms.

Getting scared.
Getting dared.
Up crickety stairs
past signs saying, BEWARE!

The thrill of fearing the night
is fun part of being a boy.
The agony of fearing the light
is a sad part of being a man.
