Alex
By Erica Willis
Please see me
I’ve been told I’m graceful,
Exciting. Passionate.
Laundry, sex, and iced tea
Draw your attention to my face
Just see me
We’re here together briefly.
I want to grab your hands
Electricity to jolt us
Take me on a magic carpet ride
let’s fly like The Snowman on Christmas Eve
but never melt
Let’s hover over the sea out where it’s only blue for miles
then ground me again, feet on the floor
We’re here now.
I want to bubble and gush with you
Bathe in joy and exuberance
Twirl in the sun
See the face of God all around us
Give honest tribute to every year, as it comes and as it goes
Our woven lives well lived
